01Messaging
Conversations that feel calm and organised.
ihallr keeps messaging clean and familiar: clear bubbles, easy-to-follow threads and one tidy list for every conversation — one-to-one and in communities.
- One tick when a message is sent, two when it reaches their device, and two green ticks once it's read.
- Read ticks in one-to-one chats follow your read-receipt settings.
- Replies show the exact message they answer, right inside the bubble.

02Privacy controls
Settings that say exactly what they do.
Every privacy setting is written in plain language, so you always know what it does before you choose. Decide who can see your Last Seen, when you're online and your profile photo — each on its own.
- Last Seen and Online are two separate settings.
- Choose Everyone, My contacts, My contacts except…, or Nobody.
- Even Everyone only includes people you're actually connected with on ihallr.
- Every conversation has its own privacy sheet, where that person can be set to Normal, Restricted or Blocked.
03Last Seen
Last Seen works both ways.
Your own Last Seen setting shapes what you can see. Hide yours by choosing Nobody, and you won't see anyone else's Last Seen until you share yours again.
- Someone else's setting decides whether you can see their Last Seen.
- Their setting can't give them a view of yours — only your setting decides who's allowed to see your Last Seen.
- My contacts means you've both saved each other as contacts.
Good to know: The same rule applies to Online: choose Nobody for Online, and you won't see when others are online either.
04Blocking
A clear stop for private messages.
Blocking someone ends private communication between the two of you. It's a firm boundary — and it's yours to lift whenever you choose.
- They can't message you privately, and you can't message them until you unblock.
- Anything they try to send you is marked Not delivered on their side.
- Messages from before the block stay exactly as they were.
- They stop seeing your Last Seen and when you're online.
- A “You blocked [name]” ticket appears in your chat — only you can see it.
Good to know: Blocking applies to your private chat. It doesn't remove either of you from communities you share.
05Restrictions
A softer limit, on your schedule.
Restricting someone doesn't end a one-to-one conversation — it quiets it. Their new messages wait as quiet knocks, and you decide when to review them.
- You see that they knocked and when — never what they said — until you review.
- They're told that their messages are arriving as quiet knocks.
- Review & accept when you're ready, or keep them restricted.
- Everything already in your chat stays visible.

A permanent history of what changed.
Blocks, unblocks and restrictions leave history tickets in the conversation. A ticket isn't a message: it's a lasting reference to what happened and when, shown only to the people it concerns.
- Tickets are permanent — they stay even if you clear the chat.
- Each ticket shows what happened and when.
- “You blocked”, “You unblocked” and “You restricted” tickets are visible only to you.
- “Restriction lifted” is visible to both of you.

07Group conversations
Group conversations for the people you share things with.
Communities are ihallr's group conversations: one shared space where everyone reads and writes together. They follow their own rule — a block between two members doesn't reach into the community.
- Blocking applies to private chats, not to communities you share.
- If you and someone you've blocked are in the same community, you can both still read and send messages there.
- Choose who can add you to a community directly — anyone else can only send an invitation.
- You can leave a community at any time.
08Delivery status
Honest delivery status, even during a block.
When someone who's been blocked tries to send a message, it's marked Not delivered. It stays that way: unblocking later doesn't deliver it after the fact.
- Before a block, messages deliver normally and stay as they are.
- During a block, anything they try to send is marked Not delivered.
- After an unblock, new messages deliver normally — messages sent during the block stay undelivered.

09Organisation
An organised home for every conversation.
Your chat list shows what needs attention at a glance — unread messages, quiet knocks and the latest history — without the clutter.
- Filter by All, Unread or categories you create, like Family and Work.
- Search across your conversations.
- Clear markers for restricted chats, pending knocks and unread messages.
