ihallr is a messaging app for one-to-one chats and group conversations, which we call communities. It's designed to feel calm and organised, with privacy settings you control and clear rules about what others can see.

You message people one-to-one, or together in a community. Every conversation lives in one organised list, with filters for unread chats and categories you create.

Each message shows where it stands: one tick when it's sent, two grey ticks when it reaches their device, and two green ticks once it's read. In one-to-one chats, read ticks follow your read-receipt settings. Replies show the exact message they answer, and you can react with an emoji.

You choose who can see your Last Seen: Everyone, My contacts, My contacts except…, or Nobody. Even Everyone only includes people you're connected with on ihallr — someone you've saved, someone you've messaged, or someone who's saved you and messaged you. My contacts means you've saved each other.

The rule is reciprocal and controlled by your own setting: if you choose Nobody, you won't see anyone else's Last Seen either, until you share yours again. Someone else's setting decides whether you can see their Last Seen — it can't give them a view of yours.

In Settings, Last Seen & Online lets you choose who sees your Last Seen and when you're online — two separate settings. You can also choose who can see your profile picture and who can add you to communities.

Each conversation has its own privacy sheet, where you can set that person to Normal, Restricted or Blocked. People & privacy lists everyone you've restricted or blocked, so you can lift a restriction or unblock someone whenever you like.

Your private chat with them stops in both directions: they can't message you, and you can't message them until you unblock. Anything they try to send is marked Not delivered on their side. Messages from before the block stay exactly as they were.

They also stop seeing your Last Seen and when you're online. A “You blocked [name]” ticket appears in your chat, and only you can see it.

Yes. Blocking applies to your private, one-to-one chat. If you're both members of the same community, you can both still read and send messages there. If you'd rather not share a community with someone, you can leave it at any time.

They're marked Not delivered, and they stay that way. If the person who blocked them unblocks them later, those messages are not delivered retroactively — only messages sent after the unblock are delivered.

Restricting is a softer limit than blocking, for one-to-one chats. After you restrict someone, their new messages arrive as quiet knocks: you can see that they knocked and when, but not what they said, until you review.

They're told that their messages are arriving as knocks. Everything already in your chat stays visible, and a “You restricted [name]” ticket — visible only to you — marks when it began.

When you review and accept their knocks — or lift the restriction from People & privacy — their knocks become ordinary messages and normal conversation resumes. A “Restriction lifted” ticket is added to your chat, and it's visible to both of you.

No. History tickets are a permanent record of these events in your conversation, and they stay even if you clear the chat. “You blocked”, “You unblocked” and “You restricted” tickets are visible only to you; “Restriction lifted” is visible to both of you.

If you restrict someone, yes — they're told their messages are arriving as quiet knocks.

If you block someone, ihallr doesn't send them a notification, and your “You blocked” ticket is visible only to you. Messages they try to send you will show as Not delivered on their side.
